Where We've Been

Las Vegas, Nevada - October 2007

Happy Birthday, Doug!

Surprise, we are going to Vegas!!!!

Doug's 45th birthday arrived and little did he know that we would be on a plane heading for Las Vegas that very evening! I had made all of the arrangements and packed our bags. All that remained was to leave the house at 5pm.

I had set a few clues out along the way and I was anxious to see if Doug picked up on them. When he got into my car, I had the satelitte radio set on the weather channel for Detroit/Las Vegas. He noticed.............then I have him a box to open with an airplane on the front...as he was opening it the CD playing switched over to the next track...............Faith Hill started singing "Hey Baby, Let's go to Vegas....." as he opened the box to reveal a Las Vegas Travel Guide.

He was very surprised! He said he was about 80% sure it was a trip but he had no idea to where and Las Vegas never entered his mind. Neither of us had ever been before so we were very excited.

Our plane was delayed a bit on the runway but who cared......we were footloose and free for the next four days!!!!!

Las Vegas -- Day 1

We arrived at our hotel, The Stratosphere Resort & Casino around 1:30am! The casino was hopping! We used express check-in and avoided the line at the registration desk and headed up to our room. We were very happy with our room. The room was very clean and the hotel overall was immaculate! I was very pleased with the deep bath tub that was perfect for soaking in after our long flight!

The next morning before leaving the room, I presented Doug with his next Surprise -- tickets to see Jimmy Buffet in concert tonight at the MGM Grand!!!!! He was blown away!

We decided to try the hotel's "Courtyard Buffett" for breakfast! It was excellent. The cost of $11 per person was very good considering it was a full breakfast and a full lunch buffett! They had made to order omelettes and delicious banana bread pudding with a rum sauce among other yummy desserts!

After breakfast, I dropped a $1 in the slots and then we started out to explore Vegas!

Disney & Disney Cruise - December 2006

Twas the Night Before Disney when all through the house.
Not a creature was stirring except me and my spouse.

The suitcases were open and lay on the bed.
While I checked the Disney boards one last time to see what they said.

The memory cards were packed and so were the Crocs.
I had even rememberd the one-gallon zip locks.

I put an extra Binky in my purse.
And the downy-wrinkle release in plastic, lest it might burst.

The ADRs have been made a long time.
Six months ago we choose where we would dine.

Our family is gong to stay at Caribbean Beach.
The Poly would be nice but this is more within our reach.

Each days events are neatly typed.
Planning with the help of Tour Guide Mike had us all hyped!

Off to Mickey's Christmas party we will go.
We can't wait to see the parade and the snow.

The "zoo" is taken care of by the best pet-sitter,
I must say I'll miss our big and small critters.

After three days at Disney we will board the "Wonder",
What excitment our cruise will bring is all that's left to ponder.

The shuttle will come early and we must be awake.
To the airport we will go, as a plane we must take.

The kids are excited this last night in town.
For tomorrow they know, we'll be Disney-bound!

So the trip is finally here and tomorrow we'll fly out of sight.
Hapy Disney to all and to all a good night.
